Songs that Lost the Oscar Part II

2:00 PM - 3:30 PM

Event Details

Since 1934, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has awarded “Oscars” to the composer and lyricist responsible for an original song considered to be the best from the films released during the prior year.  In the second part of this two-part virtual presentation, we will revisit several other outstanding numbers from this group, including such memorable standards as "The Second Time Around," "Long Ago and Far Away," and "They Can’t Take That Away from Me."  In addition, we will have an opportunity to discuss how and why the Academy voters decided upon another choice as the winner.

Presented by Richard Knox via Zoom.

Register online. You will receive the Zoom on the morning of the presentation.
